Know Your Island Walks- Lime Kiln State Park

Know Your Island Walks- Lime Kiln State Park with architectural and island historian Boyd Pratt

Join the Trails Committee for a group hike on San Juan Island on the last Saturday of each month (except where noted) at 10am. Bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and sturdy walking shoes. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Parking might be limited, so please try to carpool. Dogs on leash where permitted.

Ever wondered how lime is made from limestone—or why our park is called Lime Kiln Point? Join architectural and island historian Boyd C. Pratt for a guided walk through the site of the former San Juan Lime Company (later Cowell’s). Along the way, you’ll hear stories of economic booms and busts, dramatic landscape changes, contentious lawsuits, shipwrecks, and even a bloody murder.

No registration required.
